The Role
This role plays a pivotal role in translating client needs into high quality creative solutions which delight our clients’ customers, meeting and exceeding the brief. Through innovative and impactful visuals, the designer will ensure that the creative output resonates with the target audience while preserving the brand’s essence. This role is not just about producing aesthetically pleasing designs; it’s about crafting visual narratives that drive engagement, convey messages, and achieve the desired outcomes. In working collaboratively with the creative team and interacting with clients, the Designer will be instrumental in upholding the agency’s reputation for delivering high quality, impactful design solutions and fostering strong client relationships. The aim is to be a beacon of creativity and precision, setting benchmarks in design excellence for the agency and inspiring peers, and challenging convention.
Location
Central London. This is in-office / hybrid (with 3 days per week in office) role working alongside other members of the creative, project management and client service team. Our London office is 5 minutes from King’s Cross Station.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Conceptualisation: Create engaging design concepts that effectively communicate the brand’s message and adhere to its identity. This includes digital, print, and occasionally physical spaces.
Advocacy: Be a brand advocate for clients – understand their defining brand principles and apply them effectively.
Collaborate: Work closely with the creative team, which may include internal and external copywriters, designers, Head of Creative and Head of Broadcast, and other key stakeholders to ensure a cohesive visual narrative.
Direction: Photographers, animators, editors and illustrators
Client Relations: Occasionally present designs to clients, articulating design rationale and responding to feedback constructively.
Stay Updated: Continuously keep abreast of the latest design trends, technologies, and techniques to remain competitive and innovative in design solutions.
Finalise Artwork: Prepare designs for print or digital publication, ensuring they meet the required standards and specifications.
Desirable Skills
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of professional design experience, preferably within a creative or advertising agency environment.
Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of design projects.
Technical Proficiency: Mastery of the latest Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other relevant design software alongside understanding print and digital media specifications and asset/artwork production requirements.
Ideation and visualisation: Sketching, storyboarding and conceptualising ideas.
The creative impact of language: A passion for and an understanding of typography, it’s uses and its linguistic impact. Basic copywriting skills– short copy headlines and ability to rationalise your own ideas.
Personality: Approachable, personable working as part of a team and on solo creative projects, calm and a capable problem solver who inspires confidence with those around them.
Ambition: To produce creative that’s original, unexpected, and relevant wherever possible.
Future focussed: Improving your craft through continual development and training where necessary.
Energy: Thrives in the fast paced, deadline rich multi project environment of a creative agency with strong time management skills and personal accountability.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the intricacies of both print and digital media design, design trends and social trends.
